Introduction

Kirtipur , an ancient, historical and holy place is named after a queen called 'Kirti Rajya Laxmi' who ruled the place.In ancient days, it was also know as 'Padmakasta Giri'.

It lies  within 27.10'-27.42' north and 84.10'-84.33 east range. It lies 1,325m-1,375m above the sea level.It is located 7 km south-west of the city of Kathmandu in Nepal.It is on a hill so with the bicycle you can reach to Kirtipur at about 1 and half hour.

With the local buses, you can reach here within 45 min from the Kathmandu Bus Park and through the taxi, you can reach here within 20-30 min from the Kathmandu city.
